FAQS ON FGX-WEB AND THREATVIEW

HOPEFULLY THESE FAQS WILL HELP TO ANSWER A FEW OF YOUR QUESTIONS:

FAQ 1: How does ThreatView differ from FGX-Web?

FGX-Web is a technology that was designed in 2012 to help small to medium eCommerce detect threats targeting their online businesses.  It has done a great job over the years and is arguably still one of the best eCommerce threat detection solutions available.

BUT...

Technologies and threats are constantly evolving and it was clear that the platform needed to be completely re-vamped to evolve with the industry. We made the decision to build ThreatView as a completely new platform, focusing on the new threats and technologies being used in the eCommerce ecosystem.  Here are a few major differences that ThreatView Advanced brings to you:

  1. It is substantially better as a threat detection platform than FGX-Web - or anything else we have seen in the industry.

  2. It provides real-time threat detection, as well as scheduled scans.

  3. Threat mitigation can be automated or simplified to a click of a button to quarantine malware.

  4. It supports key PCI DSS requirements for eCommerce sites out-of-the-box.

  5. It comes with a breach protection warranty of $10,000.  Terms apply

No other solution on the market backs themselves to reduce risk for clients like we do with ThreatView Advanced.

FAQ 2: Does this mean ThreatView Advanced is more expensive?

No - it is currently US$59/month (an introductory price that will be updated some time in 2025).

FGX-Web Alert is £99/month, or roughly US$130/month.

ThreatView provides a lot more value to you than FGX-Web Alert.

FAQ 3: What are your support services?

We provide a technical support service, available via the ThreatView platform.  If you need help interpreting a result, or assistance with installation, for example, open a ticket and we will help.

FAQ 4: Does ThreatView Advanced have a managed service option?

Turaco Labs does not provide a managed service option with ThreatView.

Why not?

In our experience with FGX-Web Alert, we found that the managed service, while very popular, is an exceedingly difficult service to scale.  We have therefore made the decision to focus our effort, time and resources on building the industry's most comprehensive and advanced security solution for eCommerce businesses.

AND, build out an amazing partner network who can provide those services to our clients.

We have begun this initiative and have onboarded several excellent partners, some of whom already provide managed services to eCommerce sites globally.

FAQ 5: What happens to FGX-Web?

FGX-Web will be closed down towards the end of 2024.  Those clients using the FGX-Web Web Application Firewall will be support until early January to avoid DNS changes to your site ahead of the seasonal sales rush.

FAQ 6: What do I do about my prepaid FGX-Web service?

Please contact our support team for help - we will be reimbursing clients for any remaining time on their prepaid contract.

FAQ 7: Does ThreatView have an integrated Web Application Firewall, like FGX-Web?

No it does not.

However, we are looking at potential integrations with industry leading platforms.

For the time being, to get a similar level of protection to that provided by the FGX-Web Web Application Firewall,  we recommend signing up for a Cloudflare Business Plan.

FAQ 8: Do I need ThreatView Advanced if I sign up for Cloudflare's Business Plan?

In short, yes. Definitely.

Cloudflare's Web Application Firewall filters web-based threats from your website traffic.  It can help immensely to reduce your attack surface.

ThreatView Advanced will provide the critical security monitoring within the website to detect malicious activity and enable you to defend your online business. i.e. we monitor for and detect the threats that GET THROUGH Cloudflare.

Cloudflare will not be able to detect most of the malicious activity occurring within the website's filesystem and/or database.  ThreatView Advanced can.

ThreatView Advanced + Cloudflare Business Plan = DEFENCE IN DEPTH for your business.

The combined approach will provide you with a layered security strategy that will make it considerably harder for criminals to rip you off.

Added to this, the PCI DSS controls that ThreatView Advanced provides "out of the box" are different to the PCI controls that Cloudflare assists with.

The combined approach will:

  • Improve your security.

  • Reduce your business risk.

  • Simplify your PCI DSS Compliance.
