microAssessment Onboarding

Welcome to ThreatView and your microAsessment

We look forward to supporting you to get the most out of your microAssessment & ThreatView.

The microAssessment is designed to assist eCommerce merchants and their acquiring bank and/or processor in quickly identifying an intrusion, containing, and mitigating the issue, and then providing options for ongoing protection for their website.

Core to the microAssessment is ThreatView’s comprehensive threat detection and mitigation capability which offers a low-cost, but highly effective solution for detecting, mitigating, and protecting hacked eCommerce merchants.

To help you get started we have created a small library of "How to" videos.  Of course, if you need any further help, we're a video call or email away and on standby to help you get the most out of ThreatView.  The microAssessment is built upon ThreatView Advanced Edition:

  • ThreatView Advanced Edition - for those merchants requiring proactive security monitoring and real-time threat detection/protection, as well as the ability to comprehensively meet PCI DSS requirements:
    • 5 (Malware Monitoring)
    • 6.4.3 (Script Inventory), and
    • 11.5.2 (File Change Detection)
    • 11.6.1 (HTTP Header Monitoring)

The microAssessment process follows a "wizard" to guide you on what to do next; however, if you need further guidance here are a few videos to assist you:

Getting Proactive and MANAGING THREATS

ThreatView Advanced Edition provides our clients with a market-leading solution to monitor for threats, reduce risk and support PCI DSS Compliance for their eCommerce business.

ThreatView monitors key data across your site and alerts you via "Events".  Events contain notable information requiring your attention - here are a few videos to show you how to manage Alerts/Events:

We'd love to help you to get the most out of ThreatView - please let us know where you need further information/support.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

MANAGING EVENTS

  • It is critical to manage those events - where malicious findings are identified, please take action to remove malware and then "Close" the event.
  • If a finding is identified as a "False Positive", please ensure that you "Reject" the event.

POST INCIDENT MONITORING

Once your website is deemed "Contained", it will enter a Post Incident Monitoring phase to help you to ensure your site does not get attacked again - unfortunately the re-breach situation is a regular issue - which we are trying to prevent happening to you.

ONGOING SECURITY OPTIONS

Towards the end of the Post Incident Monitoring phase, your subscription options will be activated and you will have the following options available to you:

  • Continue with ThreatView Advanced Edition monitoring your site - you will have seen ThreatView Advanced Edition capability in monitoring your site for threats.  With ThreatView Advanced Edition already installed and running quietly in the background, you will have peace of mind that you have one of the industry's most advanced threat detection technologies monitoring your site. You will also be able to "tick the PCI Compliance boxes" for some of the most challenging requirements for an eCommerce merchant (5, 6.4.3, 11.5.2 and 11.6.1).
  • Downgrade to ThreatView Secure Edition - ThreatView Secure Edition provides a daily external scan of your website, while also providing basic support for PCI Compliance for 6.4.3 and 11.6.1 (it does not support PCI Req 11.5.2 for File Change Monitoring, or PCI Req 5 for Malware Monitoring).  While this provides a lot less visibility into the threats that may get hidden within the website filesystem and database, it still provides the latest threat detection for malware that is visible externally.
  • Downgrade to ThreatView Community Edition - ThreatView Community Edition provides the same external scan of the website and basic support for PCI 6.4.3 and 11.6.1 for zero cost.  ThreatView will scan your website on a monthly basis to check for threats using the latest threat detection available for externally visible malware.
